“My Immigrant Story” Program Features Baseball Themes
San Rafael, CA– The modern baseball landscape in the United States is defined by immigrants. From Latin America to the Far East and anywhere in between, baseball is not just America’s pastime, it is a global game. Through all social, economic, and ethnic differences, baseball is a game that can bond people of uncommon backgrounds together in support of a common cause.
During the 2017 season, the San Rafael Pacifics will be celebrating the theme of immigrants and baseball through our “My Immigrant Story” collection presented by Canal Alliance.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for baseball fans to share with the Marin County community stories about their immigrant backgrounds and experiences and how they relate to baseball.” said Pacifics President and General Manager Mike Shapiro. “We want to celebrate the diversity of this community and its connection to the game of baseball through storytelling and reminiscence.”
Throughout this Pacifics baseball season, the Canal Alliance and the Pacifics are welcoming Marin County residents to submit through the Pacifics web site their own stories, recollections, or family history about their experience or their ancestors’ connection to baseball.
The Pacifics encourage those submitting to include pictures that help shape their baseball immigrant experience. All submissions will be accepted and posted on PacificsBaseball.com. Submit your story (1,000 words or less) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Everyone who makes a submission will receive two ticket vouchers to any upcoming 2017 Pacifics home game. In order to receive your ticket vouchers, you must supply your email and mailing address.
