June 20 2021 The Martinez Sturgeon built an early lead and held on for a 9-6 victory over the San Rafael Pacifics at Joe DiMaggio Park. Martinez scored four times in the first inning and led 5-1 after four innings before adding three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 9-2 advantage. San Rafael scored four late runs including three in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.
Caleb Natov led Martinez with three hits and three RBI in five at-bats. Jaden France went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored while Jorge Martinez hit his fifth home run of the season and drove in two runs. Kaelin Robinson added two hits two runs and one RBI. For San Rafael Kyle Ulanday collected three hits and scored twice while Ben Tsui went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Nathaniel Brezner-Mendoza worked four innings for Martinez allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out eight. Rene Ramirez earned the win after pitching two innings with one hit one earned run two walks and two strikeouts. San Rafael starter Aaron Haynes took the loss after allowing nine runs seven earned on nine hits in seven innings with six walks and five strikeouts. Tim Ballejo added a scoreless inning with two strikeouts for the Pacifics.
