June 24 2021 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the San Rafael Pacifics 9-4 behind a strong offensive start and a complete-game pitching performance from Jonny Damon. Bakersfield scored twice in the first inning and added four runs in the second to take a 6-0 lead before San Rafael answered with two runs in the fourth.
Justin Carey led the Train Robbers with three hits in four at-bats, including a home run, three runs scored and one RBI. Dakota McFadden also collected three hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in three runs. Brandon Damon added one hit and two RBIs, while Rory Graf-Brennen contributed two RBIs.
Bakersfield extended its advantage with two runs in the fourth and one in the eighth. San Rafael scored twice in the eighth but could not close the gap.
Kyle Ulanday had three of San Rafael’s five hits, and
John Murray added a hit and an RBI.
Jonny Damon earned the win by working all nine innings, allowing five hits and four runs, two earned, while walking none and striking out 11.
Jarrod Dumont took the loss for San Rafael after a nine-inning effort in which he surrendered nine hits and nine runs, five earned, with six walks and seven strikeouts.
