Pacifics Edge Sturgeon 9-8 in 13 Innings

June 29 2021 The San Rafael Pacifics defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 9-8 in 13 innings. San Rafael finished with 10 hits and one error while Martinez collected 11 hits without an error.

San Rafael scored three runs in the first inning and added two in the second to take an early 5-2 lead. The Pacifics added one run in the sixth before Martinez pulled even with runs in the fifth seventh and eighth. Both teams scored twice in the 12th inning before San Rafael pushed across the deciding run in the 13th.

Corey Davis and Kyle Ulanday each had two hits for San Rafael. Davis drove in three runs and hit a home run while Ulanday also homered and finished with one RBI. John Murray scored twice and reached base three times with a hit and two walks. Martinez was led by Kevin Roque who went 3-for-6 with an RBI while Caleb Natov had two hits and two RBIs. Kaelin Robinson also drove in two runs.

Austin Fitzpatrick earned the win after pitching a scoreless 13th inning with two hits allowed. Alex MacKinnon struck out six in four innings and Aaron Haynes fanned four in three innings. Martinez starter Theo Emmers worked nine innings allowing eight hits and six runs five earned while striking out eight. Nathan Lu pitched three innings and allowed two runs before Bryce Packard took the loss after surrendering the go-ahead run in the 13th.
