Pacifics Shut Out Sturgeon 10-0

June 4 2023 The San Rafael Pacifics defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 10-0 behind a dominant complete-game shutout from Alex Valasek. San Rafael collected 12 hits and held Martinez to four hits while improving its record to 39-8. The Sturgeon fell to 25-24.

San Rafael broke through with two runs in the third inning, then broke the game open with six runs in the sixth. The Pacifics added one run in the seventh and another in the ninth to complete the shutout. San Rafael also turned one double play and committed one error.

Kyle Guerra led the Pacifics with three hits, two runs and four RBI. Nick Smith went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, while Grant Victor also scored twice and collected two hits. Guerra and Smith each homered, with Smith hitting two home runs, and Tyler Georgeson added a home run and one RBI.

Valasek earned the win with nine scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out 15 of 31 batters faced. Erik Estrada took the loss after allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits in six innings. Brady Bibbs and Luke Johnson each pitched in relief for Martinez.
